Hair Routine for Long, Healthy Hair

Long, luscious hair is something I’ve always associated with beauty and femininity. For a super long time, years really, I used to rely on extensions to achieve the length I desired. I knew that with good skin care I could achieve great skin… so why not tap into the hair treatment world and see what’s possible?

YA’LL! I have found what works for me!!! And I’m excited to share it here!

I started seeing Kari at Shades Salon in Cornelius, and over the course of 2 years, I have a whole new appreciation for what my natural hair can do. Yes, you can rebuild your hair. Yes, you can prevent breakage and damage with the right products! After my appointment with her, I realized I had TONS of nice products.

Just not the right products!

The photo below is after my first session with Kari. We chopped and got all the dead ends off! See how short my hair is?

This is Day 1 of my hair care routine with Kari at Shades salon! She is amazing. If you are in the Charlotte/ Cornelius area: go see her. MY HAIR IS SO SHORT!!! Wait for the transformation…

This comprehensive blog post is all about how to achieve optimal hair health through using a proper hair care routine, hair healing products and consistency.

In this blog post, I will share my favorite hair health tips, divided into sections focusing on scalp health, a hair care routine, and the role of styling products. But before we dive into those details, let's explore why a healthy scalp is essential for achieving long and strong hair.

The Foundation of Hair Health

Scalp Health Research shows that maintaining a healthy scalp is crucial for optimal hair growth and overall hair health. Here are some key tips to ensure a healthy scalp:

  1. Keep it clean: Regularly washing your hair with a gentle, organic shampoo helps remove dirt, excess oil, and product buildup, allowing your scalp to breathe and promoting healthy hair growth. I LOVE the DryBar “On the Rocks” Deep Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner when I need a lil boost.

  2. Nourish your scalp: Massaging your scalp with natural oils, such as coconut or argan oil, stimulates blood circulation and nourishes the hair follicles, promoting hair growth. I am OBSESSED with this Rosemary Mint Scalp Oil. I use it on my self care days to give my scalp a lil love.

  3. Avoid excessive heat styling: Exposing your scalp to high temperatures from styling tools can damage the hair follicles and hinder healthy hair growth. Minimize heat styling to maintain scalp health.

My hair now! So healthy, shiny, full and (GETTING!!!) long! Here are my secrets below…

SHAMPOO + CONDITION + HYDRATE, HYRDRATE HYDRATE

  1. Shampoo: Choose an organic shampoo that is free from harsh chemicals and sulfates. These gentle formulations cleanse your hair without stripping away natural oils, preserving its moisture and strength.

  2. Conditioner: A quality conditioner helps replenish moisture, detangle, and protect your hair from damage. Look for a conditioner that suits your hair type and focuses on repairing and strengthening.

  3. Hair Masks: Treat your hair to rejuvenating hair masks once or twice a week. In my latest video, I’m using the Raw Sugar Healing Mask. Amazing for a sleek bun look: let it sit all day and see the results after styling.

TREATMENTS

  1. Daily Hydrator: Incorporate a serum or leave-in conditioner into your daily hair care routine. This product helps replenish moisture, protects against environmental damage, and prevents split ends, leaving your hair hydrated and resilient. I love the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum: I use it as a regular “moisturizer,” if you will, for hair!

  2. K18: A groundbreaking hair treatment, K18 repairs the internal structure of damaged hair, restoring its strength and elasticity. This revolutionary product helps reverse the effects of chemical and heat damage, promoting long-term hair health. Now, friends… this is an absolute MUST if you want long, strong hair. I heard it’s what Kim K used when she went blonde and after seeing that episode and how much lightening she did and how healthy her hair still was, I had to have it!

**** has been one of the best products I’ve ever used for my hair.

  3. Other styling products: Depending on your styling needs, choose products that provide heat protection, hold, or texture enhancement. Remember to opt for high-quality options to minimize damage to your hair. I typically opt for Dry Bar products, I love the way they perform, feel and smell!

K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask Treatment : this one you need to use very particularly! My hairstylist recommend that I use it after shampooing my hair (NO CONDITIONER!!!) through 6 shampoos. Of course I used this in addition with heat protecting products: but I am absolutely shook at how well this product works. My hair went from not being able to grow past my shoulder blades to halfway down my back like it used to be! A wonderful product that I love.

Olaplex No 6 Bond Smoother : repairs and strengthens the bonds in the hair: and has built in heat protection. Use every time after shampooing, before drying your hair.

Start with damp, towel-dried hair. Take a small amount of the product and rub it between your palms. Apply evenly throughout your hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. Comb or brush through, then style as desired. No need to rinse. For best results, use with other Olaplex products as recommended.

Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray: effortlessly elevate your hair game by adding volume, texture, and refreshment to your locks. Embrace the convenience and versatility of this styling product to achieve fabulous hairstyles with ease.

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo : No Wash, No Worries!

Just spray on roots and oily areas. Massage into scalp, wait a few minutes: then brush through. Style as desired! :)

The Glam Factor – Hair Extensions

While nurturing your own hair is essential, there are times when you may crave additional length or volume. In my next blog post, I will delve into the world of hair extensions and share my custom blend for achieving a glamorous look. Stay tuned!

Conclusion: Long and strong hair is achievable through a combination of proper scalp care, keeping your hair healthy, hydrated and using the right products. Stay consistent, you will get there!
